I’m excited to share with you a post today that’s all about staying confident even when you’re battling a cold sore. If you suffer from cold sores like I do, you know it isn’t easy to feel confident when you get one. With the first sign of a cold sore coming on I reach for Abreva® Cream to get rid of it fast — the median healing time is 4.1 days, but you could heal it in as few as 2.5 days when used at the first sign. Then I follow the following simple tips to help keep my confidence high! I’ve mentioned a couple of times that I lost my job in December. It was such a hard thing to go through, both financially and emotionally because I really hate interviewing! You know that feeling as you pull into the parking lot, your stomach all in knots, trying to keep yourself from shaking or sweating through your shirt. Then you get to the waiting room and you’re trying not to fidget, look at your phone, or look bored. You’ve just about hit that perfect balance between bouncy-excited and bored, when you’re called in to the actual interview and the cartwheels in your stomach start all over again! Now image all of that, but with a cold sore. You already hate interviewing, you really, really need a job, and now your face is a mess because of this stupid cold sore! Besides a quick trip through the drugstore for some Abreva®, try these tips to help you ace your interview!
An Interview Is Just a Conversation
The best advice I was ever given about interviews was to remember that it is “just a conversation.” When you sit down at the interview table, all your interviewer is looking for is a good conversation: one in which you both connect, you can talk about things of mutual interest (i.e. the job in question) and that leaves you both feeling uplifted. No matter how uncomfortable or how lacking in confidence you feel, remember that good conversation will win the day!
They Used to Be In Your Shoes
Chances are, the person who is interviewing you has done the job you’re interviewing for. At the very least, they have a thorough working knowledge of your job description. No matter how uncomfortable you may be because of your cold sore, that fact that you’re sweating way too much, or whatever else you may be dealing with, relax and remember that your interviewer has also dealt with the same discomfort you’re feeling!
If It’s Meant to Be, It Will Be
Of course, I’m rooting for you to get the job, but I also believe that when one door closes another opens. If you don’t get the job, maybe it was so that you could learn from your interviewing mistakes, to give you time to revamp your resume, or even because the job just wouldn’t have been a good fit for you! Use every “no” as a chance to learn and grow! No matter what you may feel like right now, you WILL get a job. It will be a great fit, and you’ll be fantastic at it. Why? Because you relaxed, knowing that your interview was just a conversation, that your interviewer has walked in your shoes, because you know that when you do land that job, it will be the perfect one.
