Welcome Back!
Hopefully you’re following along with 31 Days of Finances & Fitness! If so, you’re doing Day 10 today – can you believe we’re 1/3 of the way through??
In the fitness arena, I feel like I won a major award, just by completing the first cycle of P90X! How about you? Feeling those muscles yet?
Also, are you staying off the scale? I really, really, want to get on mine, but I’m being good :-)
Now for the budget:
Day 6 was all was all about food costs. Since I wanted to encourage you to spend time with your family this weekend, your challenge was simple: Don’t eat out.
Day 7 was an extension of Day 6 – I encouraged you to avoid eating Sunday dinner out, and instead asking family to join you at home! How did you do with the day 6 & 7 challenge – did you manage to avoid eating out? I estimate that if we avoided eating out 1 weekend a month, for 12 month, and at a cost of $30 per meal (I realize this is a modest estimate) then we would save $360 a year!
On Day 8 you were challenged to create one homemade, inexpensive cleaning product. I gave you a list of 8 homemade cleaners, but you were challenged to just make one! Which did you choose?
And yesterday, Day 9, your challenge was to save on razors, specifically by using Dollar Shave Club. With prices starting at $2.00 a month. I pointed out that you can easily save more than $480 a year on razors just by using this razors-to-your-door service! How much were you able to save?
Total Savings = $1,294.75
- Window Film = $60 annually
- USAA = $156
- Cable Bill – $0.00
- Homeowner’s Insurance – $0 (already done in day 2)
- Gas: $188.75
- Eating Out: $360
- Homemade Cleaner: $50
- Razors: $480
Leave me a comment and let me know how much you’ve saved!
