When inspiration strikes, you roll with it.
amiright?
Sometimes, like with today’s inspiration, I didn’t particularly need to hear this, but it still resonated. Kind of “I may need this later on down the road” kind of a resonate.
And as usually happens, I thought if it resonated with me, then it would probably resonate with someone else:
I’ve posted this quote on Instagram because I love it and because it rings true for so many people in so many different circumstances.
Maybe you feel like all of the craziness of being a mom – between the laundry, the messes, the insane amounts of dishes, and how exhausted you are every single night – just isn’t worth it.
Or maybe you’re a professional, leaving your kids every day for work, feeling guilty, wanting to be there more for them.
Or maybe you’re like me and you are a homemaker as well as a business owner and it feels like the carousel never stops turning (yes, that particular phrase is from Grey’s Anatomy – I’m a junkie)
To the Mom: You’re not perfect, but you are enough for your kids. They see what you do, and although they may not know it, they appreciate it. Doing what you do every day sets the tone for the rest of their lives, ingrains their expectations, and places you in the forefront of your mind as their role model. Please, whatever you do, do not quit. You are amazing.
To the Professional: I cannot even describe how important it is for your kids to see you achieve. Yes, of course it is hard to leave you kids – and it should be hard! Your kids see how hard you work, how much you enjoy your work, and how much you love being home with them. The time you have with them is enough, and you’re setting them up to have successful careers later on in life. Please, don’t quit!
To the Workaholic: You have the best of both world, but you have so much on your plate that you world feels like it might implode on a daily basis. You’re home with your kids, but sometimes the doubt creeps in and you wonder if you’re not giving you kids enough, your work enough time, or they both need more from you. Sometimes, you want to give one up, for your stress level among other reasons, but please don’t! The work you do is incredibly important, and the fact that you’re able to be home with your kids at the same time is astounding. Set them up for a lifetime of success and stay the course – don’t quit.
There are literally tons of scenarios that would make you want to quit as a parent, and I couldn’t possibly have listed them all.
Whatever you do, you kids are watching. They are are looking to you for leadership, boundaries, and an example to follow later in life. What you do now sets the tone for the rest of their lives, and while they may not say anything to you (now, or even in their 30s) know that they are watching, waiting, learning.
Please, please, for their sake
Don’t Quit.
