When it comes to gifts, I’m much better at giving than receiving.
Case in point: I keep a running list of gift ideas for my family + friends all year long based on observations, shared Facebook posts, and even based on things they mention they would like to have. Then, when I find something on that list at a great price throughout the year, I buy it (if the budget allows) and stash it away in the guest room closet, which is also known as my gift closet
The idea is to buy gifts at rock-bottom prices (just like with groceries) so you have them on hand when you need them.
Utilizing a strategy like mine (or one you’ve devised on your own) will make today’s 10 Days To A Better Marriage challenge that much easier:
Today, give your better half a small gift.
I’m talking $10 or even much, much less. The gift can be as simple as their favorite candy bar, a 2 liter of soda (in a household that NEVER buys soda) or something more useful like warm socks, a new loofah for the shower, or something as simple as those batteries that you both keep forgetting to buy at the store.
Whatever it is, the importance today is to put some thought into what your spouse really wants, what would make their life easier, for under $10.
Need some ideas? Here, I’ve gathered a few:
For The Ladies:
- Warm socks
- Chocolate
- Warm Coffee
- Nail Polish
- A Loofah
- Lotion
- A Cute Keychain
- Bobby Pins
- Hair Ties
- “The Good” Lip Balm
- A Bottle of Wine
For The Guys:
- Warm Socks
- A Soda
- A Meaningful Keychain
- His Favorite Snack
- A Flashlight
- A Small Pocketknife
- A New Flash Drive
- Manly Lotion
This list is pretty short because there are literally thousands of things you could get your spouse today to show them you love them, for under $10. And, because each and every one of you are unique, what comes to mind might be VERY different.
The list is just to jog your memory, to find something that’s right for your marriage & make it happen today!
You will find that not only is the process of finding a gift for your spouse a great exercise in selflessness & thinking about what someone else wants, there is something uplifting about doing something nice for someone else.
What gift will you be giving your better half today? Share your gift below in the comments!

Thanks for this great idea Gretchen! I’d get my hubby habanero chips – if I can find them now. It’s the little things that help fuel a marriage, too – but is easily forgotten. Thanks for linking up with Grace and Truth.
