During my 1st Year Blogiversary post, I asked you all if you would be interested in my doing both a Pinterest post (since 60% or more of my traffic comes from Pinterest) as well as an income report now that I am actually making some money! Your response was overwhelmingly “Yes!” so I’m going to start doing these Traffic & Income Reports on a monthly basis!
I believe that more bloggers should reveal their income, as well as some stats about their traffic to inspire and encourage others, so I’m am giving monthly updates about my income and traffic statistics. This is my actual blogging income, folks. Read on!
Let’s get started!
Traffic –
I’m going to share percentage increases from the month before for my traffic stats, as well as actual numbers :-). Also, data is from either WordPress stats or Alexa.
Retired by 40:
- Pageviews: 106,610 (avg 3,554/day)
- Unique Pageviews: 33455
- Bounce Rate: 36.2%
- Daily Pageviews/Visitor: 7.2
- Daily Time on Site: 6:19
Ten Minute Savings
- Pageviews: 1,185
If you want to start your own money-making blog, you can do so very cheaply. I created a tutorial that will help you start a blog of your own in about 10 minutes, and very cheaply, with prices starting at only $3.95 a month. This low price is only available through my Bluehost link, and when you purchase at least 12 months of blog hosting, Bluehost will even throw in a FREE domain name (a $15 value). Again, this pricing + free domain name is only available through my link, and if you want to make money with your blog, then self-hosting through a company such as Bluehost is essential.
Income –
Keep in mind, this is purely my income. This does not account for the 30% that I hold back for taxes. Also, this does not take expenses into account – those will be covered in the next section.

Some Highlights –
My Post “21 Things Frugal People DON’T Do” was featured on both Rockstar Finance & The Globe & Mail – Yipee!
I know I’ve also talked about how I’m unhappy with the revenue I’ve been earning from my premium ad spots with BlogHer, but this month I’ve started to be happier with it….not the revenue, but the $150 in twitter campaigns that I was accepted for. It’s all money, I suppose :-) and diversification is good!

Great numbers. Thanks for sharing! Since I am just starting out, I’m very interested to see how more experienced bloggers make it all work with the income and traffic.

I love hearing from other bloggers, especially since I was happy when I made $20 in a month! I still have lots of growth, but as long as each month is better than the last then I’m happy :-)

That’s absolutely amazing to me that you receive that many pageviews per month. Nice work! Where does most of the traffic come from? Pinterest?

I LOVE blogger income reports – thanks for sharing yours. Pinch of Yum’s are the first ones I found and I now follow. I’ll add yours to the list!
So this ebook about monetizing your blog is my favorite – she made $40k her first year blogging. I wish I’d had it when I started blogging. http://bit.ly/1AgdXe7
I recently bought the Elite Blog Academy course but 4th quarter is crazy. I’m sort of into blogging (I work for The Blogger Network, an ad network for bloggers).

That’s some great stats! I’m on about 33,000 PV / month and Adsense brings me about $35/month. I normally make about $800 total most months, but it would be great to get more affiliate sales going. Thanks for sharing!
Gretchen says
It’s a long slow process, but it’s paying off now that I’ve been working at it!

It is interesting to see how you are making money on your blog. I will be trying soon to do the same – after research of course :)
Kim says
Do you mind sharing how much time you invest each week to your blog? Is this part time or does it take full time work to generate this level of income? Thanks for sharing your income and traffic report!
Gretchen says
Good question! I’ll be honest, I have no idea how much time I spend. Much of the blog work I actually do at my day job,and I’ve never actually kept track. I’ll keep track this last week of December though, and include it in my December income report, though!
