In life, things always happen for a reason – and I’m trying really hard to remember that right now.
Why?
Because yesterday I lost my job.
That’s why I was so excited to complete day 10 of 31 Days of Finances & Fitness yesterday!
I’ve already managed to shave more than $1,000 off our yearly expenses, and I’m hoping that you’ve been able to shave more!
It just goes to show you that things happen for a reason. I don’t exactly know what that reason is yet, but what I do know is that we’ve been working for 1 1/2 years to cushion ourselves should something like this happen.
So while I’m putting in about a thousand job applications (for both me and The Big Guy!) let’s talk about yesterday’s budget challenge: Save on Entertainment Expenses.
Sounds simple enough, right?
Ha! I gave you 3 different ways to save: Buying discounted gift cards, utilizing Groupon, and redeeming credit card rewards. Which ones of these do you use, or are you going to look into using?
Total Savings = $1,654.75
- Window Film = $60 annually
- USAA = $156
- Cable Bill – $0.00
- Homeowner’s Insurance – $0 (already done in day 2)
- Gas: $188.75
- Eating Out: $360
- Homemade Cleaner: $50
- Razors: $480
- Entertainment: $360
The workout portion yesterday was Shoulders & Arms – and as I’ve said before, I love arm day! Not only do I love arm day, it came at a great time. As a stress reliever, there is nothing like a good workout to calm the mind, and give focus for the tasks ahead.
What benefits have you received from working out every single day for 10 days in a row??

I haven’t been working out at all, but I just wanted to say sorry about your job loss. Good for you for getting those resumes out so quickly, anyone would be lucky to have you. I hope once you find your new job that you’ll know what the reason for all of this was. Best of luck.
