Over the weekend, I stumbled across an interesting tidbit – Target is now price-matching with Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, Walmart.com and ToysRUs.com’s online prices! As you know, I love, love, love Amazon, but it seems like this new policy might be the perfect storm to save some serious money! Here is how it works:
Stores Included: Obviously, Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, Walmart.com, and ToyrRUs.com are all included in the online price match guarantee. You have to either show a printout of the price, or show the price on your mobile device in order to price-match. Additionally, they will price-match prices found on Target.com.
Timeframe: You can price-match up to seven days after the purchase, including the new week’s Target ad.
Store Pickup: Target has also launched a store pickup-feature which allows those without Target RedCards to avoid shipping costs. However, store pickup will not be available the week of Thanksgiving.
Black Friday: Target will not do price-matches on Black Friday prices, nor will they do adjustments.
Example: I needed to purchase some new bottles for Baby RB40 – the ones we already bought have been disappearing at an alarming rate! The price for 3 – 9 oz Avent Bottles at my Target was $16.79. Here is how I only paid $9.50 for them, and got a $5.00 Target Gift Card back! Here is how I did it!
Target Price : $16.79
Price Match to Amazon’s Price = $13.00
Coupon for $3.00 off = $10.00
Used My Target Red Debit card to get 5% off = $9.50 (paid at register)
Then, after I had paid, I got a $5.00 target gift card for purchasing the bottles. This promotion was not advertised, so it was an unexpected bonus!
Worth Noting: At my Target, the cashier called his manager over to help him with the price match, which makes me think that associates are not yet familiar with the Online Price Match Policy. The official Price Match Policy says that online price matching is limited to one per customer. In the literal sense this would mean one single price match during an individual’s lifetime, which I assume is incorrect. I believe Target means one price-match per store visit, but depending on your cashier, you might have some leeway with doing more than one price match. Also, when I did my price-match, the manager that came over to assist the associate said that they do the price-matches at the customer service desk, but because the customer service desk was quite busy at that time, she went ahead and did it at the register. Just an FYI :-)
Try it for yourself and let me know how it goes!
